Let's talk about Internationalization and Diversity in Berlin's academia (Episode #2)

Diversity management and internationalization have become the guiding credos of many scientific institutions, especially in Berlin. But despite numerous programs to promote equality and diversity, Germany's scientific community is still quite homogeneous. Bureaucracy, language and unconscious prejudices - there are many stumbling stones for newcomers to Germany. But you can also find good examples and ideas on how research institutions can deal with them and provide support so that international researchers can quickly make Berlin and Germany their new home.

In this episode of the podcast Berlin Research - Forschung in Berlin, Prof. Dr. Luc De Meester, Director of the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries and Professor at Freie Universität Berlin as well as at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, and Ivona Kafedjiska, doctoral researcher at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, former spokesperson for the Helmholtz Juniors, and member of the advisory board of N², the Network of Doctoral Researcher Networks, discuss together with Nancy Fischer how scientists can have a good start in Berlin. In accordance with the subject, this episode is in English.

Editors of the episode: Anja Sommerfeld (FVB/BR50) and Gregor Hofmann (WZB/BR50).
