The tasks of ZIB lie in the development of models and algorithms in order to answer questions from the natural, engineering and life sciences, medicine as well as the social sciences and humanities with the help of computer simulations and optimization methods and data-driven processes. In addition, ZIB operates excellent research infrastructure for high-performance computing and mass data processing and cooperates with industrial partners in the translation of research results into innovative technologies.
