The German Rheumatism Research Center Berlin (DRFZ), a Leibniz Institute, is an internationally leading institute in the field of immunology, experimental rheumatology and epidemiology. 27 research groups are working with the aim to optimize the treatment of patients with rheumatic diseases and to develop new therapies that enable a lasting cure. A close connection to the Charité University Medicine in Berlin is essential for success.

"Chronic inflammation, which includes inflammatory rheumatic diseases, affects 4 million children and adults in Germany alone. These are diseases of the immune system with a great impact on the suffering for those affected. Research is best carried out together with experts from other biomedical research institutes in Berlin. BR50 offers a platform for this collaboration, which is why we are involved".
