Founded in 1992, the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology (MPIIB) is located on the historic campus of the Charité hospital in Berlin. Researchers at the MPIIB study how pathogens cause diseases and how their hosts react to them. To find answers to the fundamental questions of infection biology, the institute’s research spans various levels: From atoms, molecules, cells, tissues and organisms to clinical aspects and social contexts.
