The non-profit Weizenbaum Institute (WI) studies the impact of digitalisation on society, the economy, politics, and democracy. Its goal is to better understand the digital and networked society and contribute to shaping it in the public interest.
With currently 17 research groups, the WI combines interdisciplinary basic and applied research. Its research addresses topics including artificial intelligence, digital markets and platforms, democracy and the public sphere, digital work, knowledge infrastructures, and digital sovereignty.
The Institute promotes early-career researchers, international exchange, and the transfer of research into politics, business, and society. It stands for independent, interdisciplinary, and socially responsible research.
